Nicaragua: Land of Beauty

I recently had the opportunity to spend several months in Central America. I went down there with plans to stay the majority of the time in Costa Rica, where I had traveled previously and had a number of friends. But circumstances sent us packing for Nicaragua. I was immediately amazed by the beauty of the country. The moment that you cross the Costa Rica border you are immediately driving along Lake Nicaragua or Cocibolca as the locals call it. The Isla de Ometepe with its two soaring volcanoes is a site to behold. We set up in San Juan del Sur in southwest Nicaragua but manged to see much of the country including the breath-taking Little Corn Island, Leon, Penitas, Laguna de Apoyo and much more. I ended up making friends with the guys that run the local Century 21 office in San Juan del Sur and now I am looking at investing in Nicaragua property or land to build a vacation home and possibly rent out as a Nicaragua vacation rental. The real estate in Nicaragua is still very cheap compared to Costa Rica and it really is a much nicer country in my opinion. Most people that actually spend some time there feel the same.
